Flower Care

6 TIPS

to take care of your fresh flower arrangement at home.....

First tip

Flower Prep.

Always trim flower stems at a 45-degree angle to allow better water absorption before placing them in a vase. Use sharp, clean scissors or pruning shears to prevent crushing the stem. Re-trim the stems every 2-3 days to maintain water uptake.

second tip

Fresh Water.

Fill the vase with lukewarm water (cold water can shock flowers, while hot water may damage them). Change the water every 2 days to prevent bacterial growth. Wash the vase thoroughly before refilling to remove bacteria.

third tip

Flower Food.

Use the flower food packet that comes with store-bought flowers. If you don’t have flower food, make your own:

Option 1: 1 teaspoon sugar + a few drops of bleach (prevents bacteria).

Option 2: A few drops of lemon juice + 1 teaspoon sugar (provides nutrients).

fourth tip

Temperature Check.

Avoid placing flowers in direct sunlight, near heaters, air conditioners, or drafts. Keep them in a cool place, ideally between 18-22°C (65-72°F). Store flowers in the refrigerator overnight if you want them to last even longer.

Fifth tip

Lightly mist the petals.

Some flowers, especially delicate ones like roses, orchids, and hydrangeas, benefit from misting. Lightly spray petals with clean water to keep them hydrated and fresh.

Sixth tip

Handle with care..

Be gentle when arranging flowers to avoid bruising petals and stems. If a flower starts wilting, try cutting the stem again and placing it in warm water to revive it. Store flowers away from fruit bowls to extend their lifespan, fruits release ethylene gas that speeds up flower aging. Remove any leaves that will be below the waterline to prevent rot and bacterial growth.
